Introduction to Deep Learning - Google Developer Student Club
Workshop, EPITA Amphitheater 401, 2022
During my time at EPITA, I had the opportunity to participate in the Google Developer Student Club (GDSC). I joined the club as a volunteer in 2022 with the goal of promoting deep learning concepts and their real-world applications to undergraduate students from Sorbonne University, Paris-Saclay, and EPITA. As part of this effort, I organized a presentation to approximately 100 students, to introduce deep learning in an accessible yet informative way, balancing clarity and depth. The aim was to provide students with a solid foundational understanding, and allowing those interested to explore further research in the field of AI.
In addition to the presentation, I also organized a hands-on workshop right after the presentation, to support hands-on learning, and allow the students to directly apply what was presented. I also developed a comprehensive, and highly detailed Jupyter notebook that walked participants through building a basic Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) for natural image classification. The notebook featured clear, step-by-step explanations, helping to demystify complex concepts and make them approachable for learners of all backgrounds.
Having to preparing a presentation like this for the first time was a bit nervewracking, but ultimately this experience allowed me to discover a love for teaching that I never knew I had! I genuinely enjoyed helping each student work their way through the notebook, and answering any questions they had.
